THE ROLE
Provides up to date research to the leadership of the company in the following areas;
  • Ability to develop and implement the strategy of the business at corporate / divisional / various functional levels
  • Building and actively maintaining working relationships with internal and external networks of contacts to further the organization goals
  • Ability to bring business knowledge, trends, innovation and insight to create distinctive value for clients and organization. As well as the understanding of the industry as it interacts with & affects the business activities
  • Ability to link and analysis information; devise solutions to resolve business and operational problems
  • Understanding the core business operations of Chams Plc.with appreciable knowledge of product and service offerings
  • Adjusting own behaviors to work efficiently and effectively in light of new information, changing situations and / or different environment
  • Placing our internal and external customers’ interests at the centre of our engagement with them; proactively identifying and responding to current and future client needs
  • Working collaboratively with others to achieve common goals and positive results  



Education in strategic learning and thinking
  • Organizes sessions for management and gets a guest speaker to present information on new trends which may impact the organization.
  • Circulates newsletters and interesting articles to SBU and subsidiary heads, HOD’S on strategy implementation and related strategy topics
  • Speaking at retreats organized by different departments in the organization and organizing in-house retreats






Provider of strategic tools
  • Provides the MD, Heads of; SBUS, subsidiaries and overall management with tools designed to make it easier for them to develop strategic plans together with their teams

Facilitator of strategy sessions
  • Organizes the strategy review session and ensures that SBUs and subsidiaries develop tactical plans aligned to the organization’s new strategic plans where the following  results will be achieved;
    • Identify and manage the changes needed to support the new strategic plan
  • Recommends objective external facilitators to facilitate these sessions where necessary
  • Facilitate strategy sessions at the SBU and subsidiary levels in order to promote alignment between the SBU, subsidiaries and corporate strategic plans

Systems integrator and coordinator
  • Ensures that the organization’s systems, structure and culture are all aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and values
  • Works closely with the finance, performance management and human resource departments to ensure that all planning and measurement systems use the same language and terminology
  • Analyses all the strategic plans across the organization to ensure no duplication occurs between departments and subsidiaries
  • Ensures that all new projects are designed and implemented in a way that supports the organization’s strategies and values

Monitoring of strategy
  • Works with change management professionals to ensure that both the content and spirit of the strategic plan are being implemented.
  • Works with teams to ensure barriers to the plan are removed.

Work with the Directors
  • Does researches and feasibility studies for the MD into areas outside of the mandate of the subsidiaries to help the MD make confidential strategic decisions
  • May act as internal consultant to the HODs in the different departments and subsidiaries

  • Credible and trustworthy in working at all levels of the organization
  • Must be self-confident yet humble
  • Should be able to manage people and pressure.
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Strong rational, emotional and spiritual intelligence
  • A learning culture with a willingness and desire to continuously acquire new knowledge and techniques

QUALIFICATION
  • A good first degree in any business related field or the social sciences
  • Must have a wide range of knowledge and experience in 3-4 different areas of the organization
  • A formal business qualification such as an MBA is an added advantage
  • Minimum of four year post-graduate experience in a similar or related function
  • ACCA will be an added advantage
  • Must be a master at team playing. Ability to work with teams of people within and outside the organization, across all departments and with external alliance partners
  • Passion for innovation and new ways of doing things
  • A good sense of humor and fun-loving.
